The Climbing Gym in the Field House features approximately 1600 square feet of climbing surface designed to simulate overhangs, bulges, aretes and roofs. There are 12 belay stations with 3-4 different routes for each rope. The routes range in difficulty from beginner to advanced (5.0 - 5.12 and higher). The Nicros Company from St. Paul Minnesota constructed the wall. The plywood surface material is backed up with trusses that stand on the floor. The rock-like facing is made of a polymer reinforced, concrete coating that is spray applied to the wall to produce a beautiful, seamless climbing surface called Nircotex-Premium(tm). This surface reacts to chalk and boot rubber like real rock.
