Rock climbing on Hammer Dome Rock wall
No opinions for Hammer Dome yet ... leave your opinion
Face and crack climbs from 2 to 5 pitches are found on the south facing Hammer Dome. More moderate routes are found here (5.7 to 5.11 generally) than on Calaveras Dome across the river. Access is easier but still requires a hike and you need to watch out for poison oak in all seasons.
From Highway 88 take Ellis Road 16 miles toward Salt Springs Reservoir. In the river valley below the dam drive across the river bridge and park in the left side pullout. Hike along the aqueduct for 15 minutes or so to Hammer Dome.
