Related terms: Avalon
Avalon boasts a dense cluster of single pitch walls on a modest section of exposed granite. There is a mix of traditional and sport climbing at Avalon but the routes are predominantly bolted. The setting is relatively secluded for Boulder Canyon as most of the walls are tucked in a forested gully. This is a great place to spend the day climbing a number of good climbs while feeling tucked in the woods.
Park in a pullout on the side of the road at about 8.2 miles up the canyon from Boulder and walk up stream for about 1 minute until you see the tyrolean traverse. Park before the actual area as parking directly across from Avalon (directly under the steep rocky cliff) is illegal. Avalon is accessed by either wading through the creek or taking the tyrolean traverse over the water. Once on the other side you can either follow a climbers trail up and left to the first tier and Tarot Wall on the second tier or follow the boulder filled gully up to the upper tiers.
