Related terms: Las Vegas,
Red Rocks is an oasis of climbing in the middle of the Nevada desert. There are beautiful sandstone multipitch routes here and some amazing sport climbs as well. When you get into the back of the canyons you get to see towering canyon walls with spectacular climbs and almost no one.
If you are a beginner doing your first gear leads this is a great place to come.
Weather
Probably the best times to come are late Autumn to early Spring when the temperatures are a lot cooler, although winter can be cold so check the weather before coming. It is climbable in the summer you just need a lot of water and to climb early in the morning/later afternoon and stay out of the sun. It's fairly typically to have temperatures over 100°F all summer.
Camping
There is one camping area the Red Rocks Campground that is "bearable". Unlike some other destinations like Joshua Tree the campground does not seem to be the center of the climbing community. It is a climbing ground that has water and a place to pitch a tent and nothing else.
A word of warning, there are often high winds here. Ensure that your tent is up to the task and that there is sufficient pegs/rocks/anvils to keep it from flying off.
Food, entertainment and Accommodation.
Everything is in Las Vegas, literally everything. A night or two to see the strip is well worth a look even if you are just here for the climbing.
